When it buckets down at Byron Bay

DRAINAGE problems in the CBD have made Byron Bay susceptible to flash flooding when it really buckets down.

These photos I have taken over the years show what can happen during torrential rain. The worst spots have been traditionally around the intersection of Jonson and Byron Streets, Lawson Street between the roundabouts and low-lying parts of Middleton Street.

The very large ‘pool’ is the excavation site for the building now occupying the north-eastern corner of Byron and Fletcher Streets.
