On this site, I look back on 25 years of reporting on Byron Bay and Byron Shire issues firstly, for the Northern Star and then the Byron Shire News.
Hopefully, my posts will fill in many gaps in the town’s history of which newcomers are unaware.
And they may also remind longer term residents about how the present day Byron Bay was shaped.
This photo above was taken in Railway Park in the early 90s during a No Mackin Way protest aimed at keeping multi-national fast food franchises and other major franchises out of town.
It worked in McDonalds case, but a walk around town will show there is no shortage of other major franchises.
