IT’S rugby league finals time on the Far North Coast, and while Byron Bay-Lennox junior sides are represented, the Byron Bay Red Devils didn’t quite make it.
But here’s a reminder of the good old days back in the 90s when the Devils won two premierships in a row.
The first was in 1995 when the Bay triumphed 17-10 over South Grafton at Red Devils Park.
The following year, they defeated Brothers 11-10 at Red Devil Park in an absolute thriller.
I am pretty sure it was a young Nathan Cross who broke the deadlock, kicking the winning field goal.
Nathan went on to play for the Parramatta Eels in the same lower grade side as Luke Burt.
The Reggies (reserve grade) also were successful in 1995, knocking off Ballina 40-12.
What are your memories of those two great days for the Devils and the Bay?
